1. Policy Statement

Food Hygiene Compliance Ltd recognises that its operations, though small in scale, have an impact on the environment.
The Company is committed to conducting all business activities in a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable manner, preventing pollution, minimising waste, and continually improving its environmental performance.

Our environmental commitments form part of our wider ethical responsibility to our clients, employees, and communities.

2. Purpose

This policy sets out the principles by which Food Hygiene Compliance Ltd will manage resources and environmental impacts associated with our consultancy, auditing, and compliance services throughout the United Kingdom.

We aim to integrate effective environmental management into all aspects of our daily operations and decision‑making processes.

3. Objectives

We will:

  • Comply with Legislation: Meet      or exceed all relevant UK environmental laws and regulations.
  • Prevent Pollution: Avoid unnecessary      emissions, materials waste, and contamination.
  • Minimise Environmental Impact: Reduce the footprint      associated with travel, report printing, and use of materials.
  • Promote Sustainability: Encourage clients,      suppliers, and employees to adopt good environmental practices.
  • Continually Improve: Monitor, review, and      improve our performance against measurable environmental targets.

4. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All      staff, subcontractors, and trainees representing Food Hygiene Compliance Ltd.
  • All      operational activities, including audits, site visits, and office‑based      work.
  • The      supply, use, and disposal of materials and resources under the Company’s      control.

5. Key Areas of Focus

5.1 Energy and Resource Efficiency

  • Use energy‑efficient lighting      and equipment within office premises.
  • Switch off power and devices when not in use.
  • Use low‑energy, cloud‑based      systems to reduce hardware dependency.

5.2 Travel and Transport

  • Plan      audits geographically to minimise travel distances.
  • Use public transport or car share where possible.
  • Maintain vehicles efficiently to      reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
  • Consider remote consultations for follow‑ups when appropriate to reduce travel impact.

5.3 Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Recycle office waste, including paper, cardboard, plastics, and electronic equipment.
  • Avoid      single‑use products wherever possible.
  • Encourage      digital report delivery rather than printed documentation.
  • Use recycled or sustainable      paper stocks for mandatory printed materials.

5.4 Procurement and Suppliers

  • Work with suppliers and partners that demonstrate environmental awareness and sustainability.
  • Give preference to eco‑friendly products — including cleaning materials, stationery, and IT equipment.
  • Require      contractors to comply with applicable environmental standards.

5.5 Water and Chemical Use

  • Use      minimal water and cleaning products during hygiene demonstrations or training.
  • Ensure      all substances are handled in accordance with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulations.

5.6 Digital Efficiency

  • Prioritise      paperless audits and secure cloud‑storage for recordkeeping.
  • Encourage      clients to opt for electronic invoicing, contracts, and HACCP documents.

Expected to operate in an environmentally responsible manner and adhere to this policy where applicable.

7. Environmental Objectives and Targets (2025–2026)

  1. Reduce paper usage by 40 %      via digital reporting and e‑signatures.
  2. Cut company travel CO₂ emissions by 25 %      through efficient route planning and remote consultations.
  3. Recycle 100 % of office waste and dispose of e‑waste      using certified recyclers.
  4. Encourage clients to implement      sustainable food hygiene practices      (e.g., reduced packaging, lower energy consumption).

Progress will be reviewed quarterly and reported annually as part of the Company’s management review process.

8. Training and Awareness

All employees and subcontractors will receive induction training covering this policy and practical guidance for reducing their environmental impact.
Annual refresher training and awareness updates will ensure continued engagement.

9. Monitoring and Review

  • Environmental performance will be monitored against set targets.
  • The Director will review this policy annually or when there is a significant change in operations or legislation.
  • Feedback from staff and clients will be considered to improve sustainability measures.

10. Communication

This policy ispublicly available and may be shared with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders on request.A copy will be displayed at Company premises and published on our website.
